Benchmarking, a Useful Tool for Improving Distance Educational Practices

Abstract

Benchmarking is a management tool, useful to improve the processes of any organization. This article reviews the use of benchmarking as a tool to improve performance in quality of services offered by distance high school education institutions. This paper proposes a methodical way adapted to the features governing educational organizations and presents from the teachers experience results of application of an exploratory benchmarking study comparing teaching practices related to attention of students in distance education between two institutions. The main result found was that using a pre-established evaluation and feedback model is a practice that promotes quality in the care of students in the virtual classroom.
