Abstract

This article contains the results of a descriptive research performed on students of the digital high school program of the Secretaría de educación de la Ciudad de México. We set out to learn about the sociocultural, educational, and labor profile of the students of this program; additionally, about their relation to the access and management of new technologies of information and communication, all of this in relation to their personal and familiar contexts, as well as their gender. Also, to learn about their relationship with the conditions, habits, techniques and strategies they employ to study, and for exams. To this end, we applied a questionnaire, 76 questions organized into 13 sections, to 640 students through an electronic platform. The results provide a first approach to the students’ conditions, habits, technics, and strategies they use to study, and for taking exams in relation to the context and characteristics above mentioned; which is why, the use of this results is pertinent in order to improve the services offered by this digital high school program.
It is possible to profile the students of the B@Di CDMX, and put them into three clearly differentiated groups resulting from their background and sociocultural, labor, and educational characteristics, as well as from their gender, and personal and familiar contexts. All of these things have an impact on the students’ conditions, studying habits, knowledge and their use of techniques, and adoption strategies for exam taking.
