Abstract

An agreement was recently signed by Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Mexico (UAEMéx) and the State of Mexico Citizen Security Commission in view of the responsibility and national obligation of Middle Education. This convention provides inmates of Centers for Prevention and Social Rehabilitation (CPRS in Spanish) the service of distance high school education of this university.

This work shares the experience and problems faced by the UAEMéx, when attending to a population under restriction of freedom and limitation of educational services, which influence their learning process. These complications forced to move the tutorial function of the educational program and to assume the challenge of a tutorship for vulnerable groups, which incorporates the work carried out by people in charge of the head offices as accompanying figures for Penitentiary Centers of Social Rehabilitation students. This figure was operationally established and based on the specialized profile of tutors, as well as the collegiate work of designers and consultants of independent study guides.
