Abstract

The sense of belonging and identity of the students in relation to their educational institution is a keystone in the creation of a community, composed of the students and faculty members; particularly, in the schools that are primarily (or exclusively) virtual. In order to achieve that, the Universidad Virtual del Estado de Guanajuato (UVEG) has sought to create a connection with its students through Facebook. By doing this, they seek to establish more personal nets of communication and generate interaction (engagement) with the users who visit the website. Described in this article are some strategies, which have been implemented to this purpose.
