Abstract

We present the results of a study applied to the applicants to the 2014B Bachillerato General por Áreas Interdisciplinarias (BGAI), from the Sistema de Universidad Virtual (SUV) at the Universidad de Guadalajara. The purpose of this research was to evaluate entry expectations of the program and its method. The applicant’s expectations on what he will learn or the method’s academic dynamics, which are sometimes misinterpreted for its flexibility in the laxity of academic rigor. A survey was conducted among 63 applicants who passed the selection course, divided into four sections: previous career; choice of program; work, family and studying conditions; and professional expectations. The findings help typify the population admitted to link their life project with what is offered by the institution, finding many coincidences.
