Abstract

As an institution it is important to offer the students who enter a virtual learning environment extra support so they can obtain the tools and skills necessary to complete their High School studies.

Considering the above, the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato introduced the ‘Study Techniques for virtual environments’ module as part of their syllabus. This module has the objective of helping students adapt from a traditional to a virtual learning environment.

As a fundamental part in the development of the students’ ‘virtual skills’ this module is of great importance as it was designed to teach students how to utilize practical learning strategies that will be useful during their High School education.

Because of this, and the importance of this subject, the approval and inactivity ratings are vital markers to monitoring the students new to this model. This research focuses on the strategies established to increase these indicators.
