Abstract

The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is essential for virtual learning and teaching environments, where the implementation of sensorial and multidimensional technologies offer the opportunity to improve the learning experience by providing sounds, images and text in virtual learning and teaching environments.

This document elaborates on the upholding of graphical economy, by selecting elements such as graphics and color selection amongst others, which intervene in the designing of materials for virtual environments. Therefore, the importance of visual economy in the search for significant learning is ever increasingly important. In our work, we introduce two cases where the impact of visual economy can be observed during the designing of teaching and institutional material, it is also possible to see how this favors the learning and teaching in virtual environments.

We must place emphasis on the pertinence of graphic design and on the work designers in our quest to generate materials that foster efficient communication in virtual environments.
