Non-school and Disaffiliated Systems:
New Problems encountered in Mexico’s High School Education

This paper discusses the processes of deschooling and educational disaffiliation of youth in upper secondary in Mexico. From the situation of social vulnerability that characterizes, the growth pattern of this level is identified, highlighting the problems of segmentation, internal efficiency and quality in education. Intends, also, an empirical and conceptual characterization of deschooling and disaffiliated youth, to which is added a systematization of qualitative themes that reflect the tensions between the school culture and youth culture, considered as educational factors of disaffiliation.
