Abstract

This is the case of the Bachillerato a Distancia de Zacatecas (B@ZAC), launching on October 2011 in six rural villages of the Sombrerete Municipality. This paper presents the program’s features, such as its context and operating mechanisms; the challenges that have arisen from the implementation of an online high school system in a rural environment and the student’s profile; as well as its social impact and achievements, using some testimonials by teachers and students.
