Abstract

The objective of the present work is to display the strategies of academic follow-up assessment, employed as part of the tutorial work of the online high school program of the Univerisdad Autónoma de Yucatán. This consists of a precise and regular cooperation between the tutor/guide and the advisor, which allows them to collect relevant information about the academic progress of the tutee during the school period. This is carried out by keeping record of relevant events during the course of their studies –of an academic and, or, personal nature– which may impact directly on their performance.

Applying this strategy has made the tutoring service, within the program, stronger, ensuring a better performance by the students. It also improves the relationship between the student and the tutor/guide, and between the student and advisor, which makes it easier to identify the students at risk, and also to apply personalized atention strategies in accordance to their needs, all of it in order to ensure they graduate succesfully.
